Wandered into Galle Fort today via an hour ride on the tuk-tuk from Mirissa. This place has a pleasant mixed vibe of Europe + Penang + Cuba and it is small enough to walk around in a day. Galle Fort is a historical town protected by UNESCO. Plenty of chic cafés, bars and restaurants now occupy what used to be a prime trading hub colonised by the Portuguese. As it was raining most of the day, I had a pleasant afternoon at Serendipity café, which is also an art gallery (there’s plenty of such hide outs in Galle-Fort). I even purchased a book titled “Chucking the Dragon” from the café, a hilarious account of a teenager growing up in Sri Lanka. What a shame that the weather was slightly grey as I can imagine the view of the sunset being quite picturesque from the bastions.

Peace & Love,
